About The Artist… .

Born in Mexico City and raised in Leesburg, VA. Dario studied glassblowing in Nipomo, California under independent artist, John Laing, of Tres Piedras Studio. Learning many offhand glass techniques and assisting in the creation of rondels, light globes, vases, paperweights, and ornaments. He continued his education by apprenticing at Liquid Arts Glass Works in Salem, MA. learning the art of lampworking (a torch working technique that allows for more intricate detail). Dario now works in his own studio in Leesburg, where he also offers classes through The Loudoun Academy of the Arts.

Hot glass art is a study in contradictions. I use physics and chemistry as my paintbrushes. I capture sunlight to dance with color, but while I'm working I can only see the color of temperatures. Glass itself does not require the fastest time to completion, but each piece has elements that do. Elegance has symmetry until the very moment when it doesn't and that will most often be the finishing touch. This is the essence of timing in glassblowing.
