Kathie’s passion for traditional 19th c. American pieced quilts is reflected her
authentic miniature quilts. Each signed original is inspired by an actual
historic quilt or by a documented 19th c. pattern.A quilter of large and small pieces for over 30 years, Kathie has adapted her skills to miniature scale with precision and delight. In capturing the essence of specific historic quilts, consideration is given to the style and scale of printed cotton fabrics and to authentic color combinations. The resulting quilts are accurate in design, regional styles, and fabric trends of the most dynamic century in quilt history. Traditional construction techniques are used throughout. Finished quilts are framed in hand-grained frames.
The vibrant colors and graphic design that made the originals so exceptional preserve the finest of traditional quilt art. Kathie’s miniature quilts are rated museum quality, and selected for private collections and for the Early American Life Directory of Traditional American Crafts.
