Betty likens her passion
and joy in painting with palette knife and brushes to
discovering a flowing river previously unexplored.
Allowing the current to carry her through many of its
tributaries presenting opportunities for a blank canvas
, the reflections on its waters encouraging use
of oil’s bright colors. Each bend in the river reveals
a new challenge.
Barns and historic buildings
were the beginning fascination and Loudoun County surroundings
an obvious choice.. Ocean scenes , mountain travels, still
life’s, reproducing from the photograph and a rose
gardener, florals attract..
Betty’s first classes were
with Cathy Wilkin at NOVA. Cathy was responsible for her
trying the waters of the art world . In recent years that
encouragement was renewed with instruction at Gallery
222 (now Art Square) under the tutelage of Trisha Adams
, whose work is to be found in many galleries throughout
the country , also Antonio Walker and others.
.
Enthusiastically continuing
to seek to learn, discover, and interpret, Betty
has added encouraging Loudoun’s “hidden artists”
to exhibit , take classes and enjoy the current art venues
. She looks forward to welcoming you to her home/studio
.
