Denise is a landscape/seascape artist living in Round
Hill, Virginia with her husband and the proud mother of two grown
children. Her paintings are known for their vibrant colors and soft
Denise was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia,
Canada. She graduated from Acadia University with a BBA. For three
years she studied art in an atelier like setting in Calgary, Alberta,
Canada under the guidance of Doug Swinton and Erica Neumann ,
two of Canada’s foremost representational artists’. She spent
an additional two years studying painting and drawing at NOVA
with Virginia artists Cathy Wilkin and Don Depuydt . Currently
is under the guidance of Jonathon Linton.

Although raised on the east coast of Canada Denise
has lived in almost every province and major city in Canada, the
South of France and is currently settled in Virginia. All of these
places have left a mark on her that is evident when you view the
eclectic mix of her subjects, from the Rocky Mountains, coastal
seascapes, to the beauty of Virginia’s changing seasons.
am motivated to paint by the beauty that we see all around us
everyday, both natural and man made. Through the use of sound
technique combined with creativity I continually strive for excellence.
When painting one feels transported to another place where there
is a strong and honest relationship between your emotions, the
subject and the canvas. For me painting is a journey of self-discovery

Denise is Vice-President of the Loudoun Sketch
Club, a memeber of the Loudoun County Arts Council . She has exhbited
with the In To Art
group in Calgary, Alberta, Erica Neumman Gallery Okatoks Alberta,
Canada. In feature shows with the Gateway Gallery, Franklin Park
Center, The Hillsboro Winery, Waterford Fair, venues with the
Sketch Club and Leesburg first night.
2009- awarded second place oil painting Loudoun Sketch Club annual
Her art is in private collections in both the
USA and Canada.
