About The Artist…

Denise is a landscape/seascape artist living in Round Hill, Virginia with her husband and the proud mother of two grown children. Her paintings are known for their vibrant colors and soft elegant look.

Denise was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. She graduated from Acadia University with a BBA. For three years she studied art in an atelier like setting in Calgary, Alberta, Canada under the guidance of Doug Swinton and Erica Neumann , two of Canada’s foremost representational artists’. She spent an additional two years studying painting and drawing at NOVA with Virginia artists Cathy Wilkin and Don Depuydt . Currently is under the guidance of Jonathon Linton.
An international recognized figurative and portrait artist.

Although raised on the east coast of Canada Denise has lived in almost every province and major city in Canada, the South of France and is currently settled in Virginia. All of these places have left a mark on her that is evident when you view the eclectic mix of her subjects, from the Rocky Mountains, coastal seascapes, to the beauty of Virginia’s changing seasons.

Artist Statement

I am motivated to paint by the beauty that we see all around us everyday, both natural and man made. Through the use of sound technique combined with creativity I continually strive for excellence. When painting one feels transported to another place where there is a strong and honest relationship between your emotions, the subject and the canvas. For me painting is a journey of self-discovery and growth.
