Judith Haynes Levins graduated from The New England
School of Art and Design in Boston, Massachusetts in 1989. Along
with working as a freelance illustrator and designer for many
years, she also taught as an instructor of drawing at The New
England School of Fashion Design in Boston.
Along with her husband, Peter Levins, Judith founded a cottage
business called Lot 5 studio in 2008. Their studio is nestled
at the base of the Short Hill Mountain range in Lovettsville Virginia.
The rolling mountains and pastures provide wonderful inspiration
for Judith, who has a deep love and respect for nature and the
great outdoors. The natural world is reflected in all of her work.
Judith mainly works as a painter, creating with watercolor, oil
and acrylic. Her work can be found in private collections throughout
the country. Recently, she has ventured into the three-dimensional
world of ceramics, making figurative sculpture and functional
pottery.
As an avid gardener, Judith also brings her design talents to
her flowerbeds. She can often be found contentedly in her Virginia
gardens at Lot 5 studio, drawing inspiration from what she has
sown, and merging paints and brushes with paper and petal.
