About The Artist…

Katherine
Riedel is a Virginia native who grew up in Lynchburg and
graduated from Mary Washington College. She now resides with
her four children and husband in Waterford.
In her
early years studying drawing and painting under Samuel K.
Roller, Katherine developed a joy in capturing the outdoors
in watercolors, oils and pastels. She has taken
opportunities to paint in the upper Northwest coast, islands
off Massachusetts, England and many gardens and landscapes
in the Virginia countryside.
In
addition to selling her work in Maryland and Virginia
galleries, Katherine also displays, sells and teaches her
art in her home studio that once served as the town's 19th
century millinery and grocery store. Katherine has served as
Artist-in-Residence at Waterford Elementary School where she
shared her love of art with students in a program
emphasizing book illustration. She has hosted summer art
camps, taught in both public and private schools, and worked
with students of all ages. |
