Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,
Lee Becky is the third son in a family of steel workers. Growing
up during Pittsburgh's golden era of steel, when the city
was a bustling industrial center eagerly fulfilling a growing
country's hunger for iron, Lee's boyhood adventures took him through
the factories and warehouses surrounding him. Inspired and haunted
by the immense and formidable structures used in the fabrication
of steel, his work recaptures the memories and emotions of his
youth.
Nature has been another inspiration
throughout his life, introduced to its beauty while spending a
considerable amount of time hunting and fishing the woods and
lakes of rural Western Pennsylvania with his father and brothers.
These early inspirations brought forth a deep desire within him
to express these feelings and experiences through art and music.
Frequently visiting Pittsburgh's
world renowned Carnegie Institute transformed him as a young man,
his imagination fired by the works of Rembrandt, Frans Hals, George
Inness and Bruce Crane. There he received initial art training
learning the basics of drawing and design. He later studied at
the Corcoran School of Art and the Art League in Alexandria, Virginia.
Lee is an accomplished artist excelling
in portrait, figurative and landscape. He works in a number of
traditional mediums including oil, watercolor and charcoal.
Original paintings, prints will be
offered for sale.
