Artist's Statement

In addition to local works, frequent travels to Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Arizona, Utah, and iconic parks like the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Yellowstone, and Red Rock Canyon provide inspiration for my work. My travels to Greece, Italy, the UK, and Costa Rica allowed for photographing and painting en plein air. Bush safaris in South Africa, Kenya, and Zambia further expanded the collection with depictions of magnificent animals and rustic landscapes.

I have a formal background in nursing, including a B.S.N. from the University of Virginia and an M.S.N. from the Medical College of Virginia, a love for swimming, biking, sailing, hiking, and traveling complements the passion for painting.

It is a true honor to show my work after years of training within the Loudoun art community and with local artists, including the visionary Penny Hauffe, who continues to shape my craft.

Bodie Lighthouse, Outer Banks, NC
My family loves the Outer Banks. We drive there each year. My brother' s family and ours enjoyed our afternoon at Bodie Lighthouse. What a rich history! Here I paint our memories of that fun time! Enjoy.

Grand Canyon. South Rim
Each year if possible I travel to the Grand Canyon. I not only enjoy its atmosphere and beautiful landscape but love the elk, mountain goats, deer and other animals that roam its banks. This year did not disappoint and I paint my visit for you. Enjoy!

Oh Shenandoah!
I love the Shenandoah River and one of its many songs called Oh Shenandoah! My father loved this song. Fittingly Oh Shenandoah was sung for his funeral. Here I paint this glorious river in his honor and in memory of dad. Enjoy!!!

Maasai Patriarch
The Maasai is home to this magnificent male elephant. He was viewed in the African bush. We gave him plenty of leeway as he walked down the road and we pulled off to the side. He walked past us and continued on his journey.

Grand Tetons Trail Ride
Here you see an afternoon Trail Ride in front of the Teton Range, near Jacksonville, WY. The Tetons are still capped with snow on this late June day.
