Artist's Statement
I paint landscapes and natural forms that feel familiar and intimate. Trees, rolling landscapes, forests, and shifting skies appear throughout my work, layered in encaustic and mixed media to echo the textures and rhythms of the natural world. My paintings are personal interpretations shaped by memory and emotion, inviting viewers to experience nature as a close and calming companion.
My connection with nature began in childhood and continues to guide my work today. I paint to honor that early bond, to share the comfort I find outdoors, and to help others slow down and notice the beauty around them. Themes like memory, resilience, and growth shape my process, offering a sense of grounding in a chaotic world.
During the WLAST tour, I’ll be offering original abstract and landscape paintings in a variety of sizes, prints, and works on paper that reflect this ongoing relationship with the natural world.
Between Then and Becoming is about that in between space where memory shifts and reshapes itself. I wanted the colors and forms to feel like moments caught mid change' not quite past, not yet future. It' s a reflection on how memory isn' t fixed, but always moving, always becoming something new

his painting began with a sweet little moment at the Waterford Fair. I was wandering through the village when I noticed a line of sheep making their way across a pasture, each one trailing the next like they were playing a quiet game.

' Dawn Follows the River' was born from a quiet morning spent along the Shenandoah River. I sat at the river' s edge with a thermos of tea, listening to the hush between bird calls and watching the current carry my thoughts downstream.

Rolling hills, lilac fields, and that lazy summer vibe' this painting is about soaking in the season. The colors melt into each other the way warm days do, turning the whole scene into an easy, wandering daydream.

The Mind Beneath the Tide is all about the thoughts that hide beneath the surface of our conscience. I wanted the colors and textures to feel like a shifting underwater environment, full of motion and mystery.

Where Still Water Dreams started with me dipping an underwater camera on a selfie stick beneath the lily pads, just to see what the world looked like from underneath. The view was quiet and strange and beautiful' like a dream you almost remember.

This painting emphasises the color, texture and geometrical shapes found in water and land. The encaustic medium intentionally obsures images created in mixed media on the base layer, adding a sense of mystery the viewer wishes to explore.

This encaustic painting captures a vibrant and abstract landscape, where the interplay of colors and textures evokes a sense of movement and emotion. The scene depicts a sunset over the Potomac River with the sky ablaze in warm hues, contrasting with the cooler tones of the water.
