Artist's Statement

My current body of work, landscape and still life paintings, documents my search for comfort and a sense of peace in uneasy times. Working from memory, black-and-white photographs, or a still life arranged behind me allows the freedom to explore multiple perspectives, shifting light sources, and altered color. This approach moves the work away from strict description and toward greater emotional expression.

The varying perspectives reflect the act of finding comfort amid uncertainty and invite us to challenge ourselves to see familiar subjects from new viewpoints. These paintings center on moments of quiet within everyday rituals, such as a carefully prepared cup of coffee or a walk at sunset. They celebrate the sense of peace that can be found both in our inner world and in the small, controllable details of daily life.
