Artist's Statement
Lori DeMark is a Purcellville-based artist whose work draws inspiration from natural forms and everyday textures. She creates jewelry using both metal and clay, crafting earrings, necklaces, pendants, and bracelets. Working with sterling silver, copper, and brass, she shapes each piece through cold hammering or embosses intricate patterns using a jewelry mill. Every item is uniquely formed—some bent or soldered, others accented with carefully selected beads.
Her clay pendants and earrings are made from stoneware or porcelain, fired to cone 5 or 6. Each piece is stamp-pressed with designs or impressions from natural objects, resulting in richly textured surfaces. Lori’s background in printmaking and ceramics deeply informs her approach, allowing her to blend techniques and materials in distinctive ways.
As both an artist and educator, she also teaches jewelry workshops, sharing her craft and creative process with others.
