Artist's Statement

In addition to local works, frequent travels to Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Arizona, Utah, and iconic parks like the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Yellowstone, and Red Rock Canyon provide inspiration for my work. My travels to Greece, Italy, the UK, and Costa Rica allowed for photographing and painting en plein air. Bush safaris in South Africa, Kenya, and Zambia further expanded the collection with depictions of magnificent animals and rustic landscapes.

I have a formal background in nursing, including a B.S.N. from the University of Virginia and an M.S.N. from the Medical College of Virginia, a love for swimming, biking, sailing, hiking, and traveling complements the passion for painting.

I am excited to return to WLAST after participating in the 2024 tour. It is a true honor to show my work after years of training within the Loudoun art community and with local artists, including the visionary, Penny Hauffe, who continues to shape my craft.

Maasai Patriarch
The Maasai is home to this magnificent male elephant. He was viewed in the African bush. We gave him plenty of leeway as he walked down the road and we pulled off to the side. He walked past us and continued on his journey.
