Artist's Statement
Myths, Metaphors, and Legends Since time before time, more than 25 millennia ago, men and women have explored the earth and have used myths, legends and art to communicate between themselves, the spirits, their ancestors and to their legacy about what they’ve learned. I make small editions of hand-pulled prints to repeat some of these metaphorical stories. The earliest written saga comes from the 3rd m. BCE. Taming Adam tells of the creation of mankind and the complex relationships that exist between the gods, goddesses, women, and men. In another example, City Upon a Hill, I tie some stories together: George, a tired soldier on his way home meets up with the wood nymph Daphne, the mischievous wooden puppet Pinocchio, and Dorothy, a storm refugee from Oz. The Sermon on the Mount says “A city upon a hill cannot be hid.” Sins and errors are exposed for the world to see. But if people learn to help people like our four protagonists have done, we may experience exceptionalism.
