Artist's Statement
Lori DeMark is a Purcellville based artist. Her work is inspired from designs found in nature and everyday textures. Her jewelry creations use metal and clay materials, featuring earrings, necklaces, pendants, and bracelets. Crafted from sterling silver, copper, and/or brass, her jewelry is forged using cold hammering techniques or embossed with intricate patterns using a jewelry mill. Each piece is uniquely bent or formed, some soldered, others adorned with hand-selected beads. Her clay pendants and earrings are made from stoneware or porcelain clay, fired to cone 5 or 6. The clay is stamp-pressed with her personal designs or natural objects, creating textured pieces. Lori’s background in printmaking and ceramics influences her jewelry design, blending techniques and materials. As an artist and educator, she teaches jewelry workshops, sharing her knowledge and skills.
